Animation

First years have just completed an Animation module with their tutor Simon Cooper. Posted here are a selection.

Hard work and a great deal of time spent mastering AfterEffects produced some outstanding animations. Shown here is Lisa Parker's 'Winter Dog'.

And introducing Charlotte Brook's dancing aliens.

Lisa Parker combined drawing, photography and sound to create something quite awful!

HIFEST Products

And this year at HIFEST both year groups participated in making a products for our stall. Shown here is Lisa Parker's laser cut brooches packaged up in an enticing manner as well as cat themed wrapping paper and also Maria Nikla's coasters and earrings , once again made using the laser cutter. 

And Charlotte Brooks and Kate Bruce were sufficiently resourceful to have their own stall.

Henry Farmer is making a great deal of use of the department's laser cutter. Starting with cutting intricate designs in paper and in MDF he has moved onto etching his designs into acrylic. He then highlights the pattern using white ink.  The design shown here is a brooch but he has made larger pieces which he has made into clocks. 

Making products which can be sold is part of Henry's way of engaging others. Most students in the Art & Design department will have seen Henry's invitation to participate in the colouring of his mural sited in the Atrium and his colouring sheets which are currently for sale in the college shop.

HIFEST

The Atrium teeming with illustrator's stalls. Work exhibited included professional practising illustrators , recent graduates and also students from the FdA Illustration, Camberwell, Brighton BA and Kingston Universities.

This is the stall for the FdA Illustration programme. Students exhibited prints, self published books, cards but also activity packs, ceramics and jewellery reflecting what a diverse subject illustration is and the richness of the opportunities on the FdA. Professional Practice is an important part of the course and students really made the most of packaging and displaying their work.

HIFEST

The work of Curtis O'Malley which was done in response to a live brief for illustrations to advertise the forthcoming HIFEST event.

HIFEST Saturday 6th December

On Saturday 6th December 2014 HiFest (Hastings Illustration Festival) will showcase amazing, illustrative talents both locally and nationally, through stalls, special guests, talks, workshops, signings and exhibitions. 

The festival will take place in the atrium in Sussex Coast College Hastings and will include the work of current FdA Illustration illustration students as well as graduates from the programme alongside an incredible pool of local and national talent.

Fda Illustration and FdA Contemporary Craft Students' Coastal Currents Show

FdA Illustration and FdA Contemporary Craft students joined forces to stage an exhibition as part of the Hasting's famous Coastal Current cultural festival in September.

They transformed the school art supply shop creating a clean and convincing space in which to display and sell their work. The University of Brighton Union generously funded the project paving the way for other HE students to stage their own university funded exhibitions within the town and beyond.
